Fixit Express publishes general information for homeowners. It is not legal advice, not engineering advice, and not a contract to perform work. Reading a page does not create a contractor-client relationship.
Building codes, zoning, licensing, and permit triggers are set locally and they change. State pages summarize research as of the “last verified” date on that page. Where the research was marked unverified, the page tells you to check with your local building department instead of stating a rule. Confirm every permit and license question with the authority that enforces it before you buy materials or hire anyone.
Cost figures are rough national estimates so you can tell a $20 part from a $2,000 project. They are not quotes. Your city, the brand you buy, and what you find after you open the wall will change the number.
Safety notes are warnings, not a complete procedure. Gas, electrical work beyond a straight device swap, structural decks, and anything involving a pool barrier can injure people or damage the house if they are done wrong. When a page says hire a pro, hire a licensed one.
How-to links go to other publishers. We don't control those pages, and a guide can go out of date. Use your own judgment and the manufacturer's instructions.
